Every year the life and work of poet Robert Burns is celebrated around the globe in a tradition that began after the Scottish poet’s death in 1796 when friends decided to host an annual event to celebrate his career.
Today people flock to lavish Burns dinners to toast the haggis and sip whisky while dancing at ceilidhs to honor the famous poet. This year, Sam Heughan, star of Outlander, recited two of Burns poems:
A Fond Kiss and Then We Sever
Red Red Rose
