Anna Kendrick has funded 31 school projects in Maine through DonorsChoose.org as part of #BestSchoolDay.
The event is a surprise philanthropic flash mob of more than 60 celebrities, business leaders and athletes who together are bringing to life the classroom dreams of teachers and students across America, according to a press release.
Teachers use the website to seek out donations for various resources and projects from books and science equipment to field trips. The donation from Kendrick will primarily be disbursed to schools in southern and central Maine. The “flash funding” will be used to pay for requests made through DonorsChoose.org that haven’t been covered for this school year.
Kendrick, a Maine native, attended Deering High School and makes frequent trips back to her hometown.
