This episode ends on a crazy cliffhanger. We had to wait all summer to find out what happened the first time around.
The Road So Far…
Notable Plot Moments:
Dean is really depressed after his encounter with Sam, but Bobby isn’t having it. He tells Dean that he sounds like his father, and that Dean is a better man than that and needs to get over it. In the middle of their conversation, Dean is suddenly in a very formal room. Castiel is there and tells him it’s almost time.
Meanwhile, Sam is torturing a demon for information on Lilith and the final seal. She gives them the location but doesn’t know what the seal is. The demon then goes into the nurse she is inhabiting’s subconscious so that Sam and Ruby have the nurse instead of the demon, sort of. Sam then puts the screaming woman in the truck. Dean would definitely not approve.
Dean asks Castiel to take him to see Sam. Castiel refuses and when Dean tries to leave on his own, the doors turn into walls.
Sam has doubts and decides to listen to Dean’s voicemail. While the real voicemail may have turned Sam in Dean’s direction, it has been changed to a fake one where Dean calls Sam a monster and a vampire, turning to toward Ruby.
Dean and Castiel show up at Chuck’s, where he is surprised to see them, saying that it isn’t supposed to happen, after the camera has shown his finished novel, Lucifer Rising. Chuck tells them where Sam is, but the archangels are about to show up. Castiel tells Dean he will hold them all off, and sends Dean to stop Sam.
Sam has already arrived at St. Mary’s and is fighting with Lilith. He hears Dean outside the church door, and pauses, Ruby screaming at him to kill Lilith, Dean yelling for him to open the doors. Then Lilith laughs and insults him, and Sam goes full black-eyed demon and kills her.
Ruby then reveals the truth and tells Sam he just opened the door and she was tricking him the entire time. Sam tries to kill Ruby, but he has no power left. Dean finally breaks open the door and comes in and when Sam sees him he grabs Ruby to hold her still while Dean stabs her with the knife.
Sam is starting to question Ruby’s methods, and is wondering if Dean is right.
Meanwhile, Zachariah shows up and tells Dean that they aren’t trying to prevent the apocalypse. They never were.
Castiel shows up to help Dean, and reveals that Lilith is the final seal. When she dies, the end begins. Dean tries to convince Castiel that what he’s doing is wrong.
Sam and Dean are standing next to the entrance as it’s opening to let Lucifer out.
Dean gets bored waiting around in the angel room, and purposely knocks a statue over, just to see what will happen.
Even though what Sam is doing goes against everything he believes in, Dean calls Sam from the room with the harps and apologizes for what he said.
After an internal struggle, Castiel shows up to help Dean.
