The basic plot of the episode demonstrates that Sam and Dean are drawn to hunting together regardless of circumstances. Whether or not Dean was happy about it, New Angel was right about that.

This episode finds Sam and Dean in an alternate universe. Dean is Dean Smith, director of sales & marketing, who listens to NPR instead of classic rock. Sam is Sam Wesson (get it? Smith & Wesson?), tech support guy who is having dreams about his life as a hunter.

Sam thinks that Dean looks familiar and he asks him if he has any weird dreams.

Sam’s co-worker, Paul, microwaves himself to death after losing his files. Sam and Dean both start researching it and find the same information – that Paul was set to retire in two weeks. Dean calls Sam’s friend Ian up to his office. He ask Ian to fill out a form that had a mistake and Ian goes kind of crazy. Ian runs out of the office and Dean and his suspenders follow him into the restroom where Ian stabs himself in the neck with a pencil.

Dean calls Sam to come to his office immediately. It turns out they both started working there three weeks ago. Sam asks Dean if he saw a ghost and Dean thinks he might have. Sam posits that a ghost might be causing all the weird deaths. It turns out that both dead men received an email telling them to go to human resources in room 1444, but human resources is on the seventh floor.

They find that the founder of the company, Sandover, is the ghost. Using the Internet, they find the GhostFacers web site and follow the directions to get rid of the ghost. A new angel then shows up as Dean’s boss, offering him a raise. When Dean decides he wants to decline the angel restores his memories and points out to Dean that he and Sam have hunting in their blood.

“I know it sounds crazy. But yes, that’s what I’m telling you.” – Sam

“So you’re telling me your dreams are special visions and you’re some kind of psychic?” – Dean
“No, that would be nuts.” – Sam

“I am dying to check this out right now.” – Sam

“I just can’t shake this feeling like I don’t belong here, you know what I mean? Like I should do something more than sit in a cubicle.” – Sam
“I think that most people who work in a cubicle feel that same way.” – Dean

“We do what I do best, Sammy. Research.” – Dean

“Did you just call me Sammy?” – Sam

“Where do we even get a gun?” – Dean

“Man, I’ve got to tell you, I’ve never had so much fun in my life!” – Dean

“You don’t want to go fighting ghosts without any health insurance.” – Dean
