Death Takes a Holiday

Important Moments:

Alastair shows up and he knocks Dean out. Sam has been practicing with Ruby, clearly, and is able to block Alastair’s powers and then he exorcises Alastair.

Funny Moments:
Jensen Ackles, Dean Winchester, Jared Padalecki, Sam Winchester, Supernatural
The karate kid training sequence.

Notable Plot Moments:

Sam and Dean travel to a town in Wyoming where no one is dying, and they theorize that the Grim Reaper is gone. It turns out that if the demons kill a reaper under certain lunar circumstances, then it breaks another seal. Tessa, Supernatural

Pamela shows up to help the brothers astral project into the spirit world so they can find the reaper. They find the last boy to die in the town, Cole, who tells them a creepy man in a black suit came, but then black smoke took him away. Reapers show up, and then the woman that Dean talked to when he was going to die in the season 2 premiere, Tessa, walks down the stairs, but Dean doesn’t recognize her.

Supernatural
The black smoke shows up and Cole ends up trying to train Sam and Dean to use ghost moves. It’s pretty hilarious. Sam and Dean then go to the funeral home, where Cole saw the black smoke. It’s covered in symbols.

They go inside and are trapped in iron. Then Alastair walks in.
Alastair, Tessa, Supernatural
Alastair is going to kill Tessa and another reaper to break the seal. Sam and Dean use ghost powers to break the symbol holding Tessa and she lets them out and they all escape, except a demon has found the brothers bodies at the motel, and during the fight, Pamela gets stabbed. While Dean is running on the street, Alastair shows up again, and he is suddenly struck by lightening and then Castiel shows up behind Dean. He tells them that they captured Alastair and saved a seal.

Character Development:

Sam and Dean get into an argument because Sam thinks they have to restore the natural order, and Dean says they are the same as everyone else. Sam thinks what they do means that the normal rules don’t apply to them. Later, Castiel shows up and tells Dean the same thing.

Tessa calls out the situation, saying that he should trust his instincts about the angels.

When Sam exorcises the demon in front of Pamela, she feels it and tells him that his intentions aren’t good, even if he thinks they are, and she’s psychic.

Pamela is the first major female character to die. I think many people have noticed that none of the female characters ever stick around for long. Good or evil, doesn’t matter, they’re going to get dead.
Misha Collins, Castiel, Supernatural
Castiel reveals to Dean that he recruited him, though he doesn’t reveal why.

Food Moment:

Dean is eating a burger while Sam looks at a case.

State of the Week:

Wyoming

Best Lines:

“Thanks, Haley Joel. I know I’m dead.” – Cole

“I can feel what’s inside of you. If you think you have good intentions, think again.” – Pamela
