Zachary Levi has launched a production company, called Middle Man Productions, which is based at Universal Television. Levi recently signed a first look television deal with the studio. The company has hired Erik Olsen as EVP and Justin Allen as VP. Middle Man aims at developing and producing character-driven comedy and drama projects, according to Deadline.
“I’m incredibly excited to not only be developing new content with Universal Television, but to be doing so alongside Erik and Justin,” Levi said in a statement. “Both have been longtime collaborators with similar taste and passion, and the opportunity to bring them on board this journey is an honor.”
Prior to joining Middle Man Productions, Olsen worked for Silver Pictures for 11 years, where he produced films including The Book of Eli and Orphan. He also spent three years at LBI Entertainment and is in post production on Curve, a film starring Julianne Hough. In July, Olsen will premiere Shut In at the Los Angeles Film Festival, as well as producing The Dirt for Focus Features.
Allen produced the short films Winter Light, which is based on a short story by James Lee Burke, and Here and Now, which won the top prize at Ron Howard’s Project Imagination last year. He has also worked in production on Mad Men for the last four years.
