The episode opens in the Loire Valley of France with a man running through vineyard. He ends up in a wine cellar, where he injects a microchip into a wine bottle to hide it.
Chuck and Sarah are at dinner and Chuck is acting weird. Sarah asks him what’s wrong and he starts to talk about their relationship and their future. Sarah tells him not to worry about it or rush because her parents had such a nightmare proposal in a restaurant just like the one they are in. It ended in flames and her parents took it as a sign and postponed the wedding. Her father always says that was the beginning of the end of their relationship. Awkward moment, as Chuck has the ring in his hand and was just about to propose…
Chuck runs outside and tells Morgan to abort the proposal plan. Chuck frantically runs around to cancel his over the top proposal, which included Champagne, a horse drawn carriage, and a band. Luckily, Sarah tells him that Beckman called and they have a mission. Chuck feigns disappointment and hurries to leave the restaurant before Sarah notices anything.
Beckman tells Chuck and Sarah they are being sent to a chateau in France to recover the microchip. Casey is not happy to have a mission in France. Casey is assigned to pose as Chuck’s personal manservant, which he is thrilled about.
Morgan suggests Chuck propose to Sarah at the chateau in France. Chuck doesn’t want to, but after arriving and seeing how nice the chateau is and hearing Sarah describing it as romantic, he calls Morgan and changes his mind. Morgan reminds Chuck that Casey is posing as his manservant. Chuck then gives Casey some tasks in the absolute worst British accent anyone has ever done or heard.
Casey calls Chuck to tell him he got a signal on the nano chip in the basement. After seeing the bad guys come in and hearing them say where the chip is, Casey lets Chuck and Sarah know the chip is in one of the wine bottles.
Chuck picks up the signal and goes to find the wine bottle, but the balcony is covered with waiters serving wine and with all the bottles, Chuck has no idea which one it is.
Casey is stuck in the basement, so Sarah pretends to be drunk and stumbles in, hitting the bad guys and knocking them out, leaving Casey to shoot the other two so he can escape the basement.
Chuck finds the glass of wine that contains the nano chip, but when the Frenchman who has it won’t give it to him, Chuck takes it and runs.
After returning to Burbank, they find General Beckman there. She has come to brief them in person and tells Chuck and Sarah they are going back to France, posing a turncoats who want to sell the chip back to the bad guys. They have to switch out cases and the one they leave will have a tracking device that will allow them to find the entire team.
General Beckman takes Sarah aside and tells her that she wants Sarah to make the drop because it has to go smoothly.
While Chuck and Sarah are on the mission in France, someone is taking photographs of Sarah.
Casey figures out that Morgan is helping Chuck propose. He tells Morgan that he will need all the help he can get. Casey sits down and joins Morgan at the computer. Chuck begins his proposal, and it’s very romantic (though I like the real one better), but in the middle of the proposal, CIA agents show up and arrest Sarah for treason.
After Sarah’s arrest, Chuck goes to talk to her. She tells him she has to go undercover for a little while. She’s going into Volkoff industries, where she is going to take them down from the inside. Chuck understandably starts freaking out, as we’ve heard this one before, about 25 years ago, and that mission still isn’t done.
Morgan goes into his office and finds Sarah waiting for him. She slams the door close and says she knows about Chuck planning to propose. She wants to know all the details and tells Morgan that she hates surprises. She finds out that Chuck was planning to propose at the restaurant. She then tells Morgan that she is taking over the operation and Morgan is now working for him.
Morgan is on comms with both Sarah and Chuck on separate secure lines while they are on their mission in France. Casey notices that Chuck dropped the ring and tells Sarah, who distracts Chuck and picks it up and puts it back in his pocket. Watching the video feed, Morgan and Casey both breathe a sigh of relief.
As Chuck is running away with the wine, the bad guys go after him. He flashes and they fight, Chuck catching the glass so that it didn’t spill. After Chuck brings it back to Sarah, they are admiring the view when a rope catches on the balcony and Casey shouts for them. Sarah says that’s their ride and they both jump off the balcony.
After the second mission is complete, the same bad guys find Chuck on the balcony and attack him. He flashes again and knocks them out. He then drags them off the balcony so they don’t ruin the proposal.
