Chuck – Season 4 – Episode 9
Chuck Versus Phase Three
This episode picks up in a misleading scene, but we aren’t the only ones to be misled, as Chuck is in bed with Sarah, and she just wants him to flash. When he can’t, she loses interest and then Chuck realizes that Lester is in bed with him, too. He starts to freak out and remembers all that just happened, that the Belgian kidnapped him.
Important Moments/Plot Summary:
The camera pans back and we see that Chuck is unconscious. The Belgian and a doctor are trying to get Chuck’s brain to access the Intersect. The doctor sees that anxiety is his most activating emotion.
Back at Castle, Sarah is frustrated that they haven’t made progress in finding Chuck. Morgan then comes in with information on a Thai ambassador that has associations with the Belgian. The ambassador is in Los Angeles. Sarah and Casey then go to the embassy to find the Belgian. When he’s less than helpful, Sarah tranqs him, Casey rolls him up in a carpet and they transport him to American soil.
Ellie is about to take her Dad’s old car to work when she finds what looks like a really old laptop under the seat. Awesome suggests calling Chuck, but Ellie insists that he not because it will real him back into spy stuff.
Sarah locks Casey in Castle and interrogates the Thai ambassador and gets a general location in Thailand for Chuck. She tells Casey where she’s going and heads for Thailand.
Morgan goes into Castle and convinces Casey to take him to Thailand before he lets him out of the cell.
The Belgian has decided to empty Chuck’s head of everything except the Intersect, which would lobotomize him.
Sarah, Casey, and Morgan find the camp and are doing reconnaissance. Morgan suggests not using guns. Casey suggests a magnet instead. When Sarah asks Morgan if he’s ready and Morgan realizes that he’s the magnet, he says let’s use lots of guns. They send Morgan in as a distraction, but when they get closer, the Thais with guns see Sarah and run from the giant blonde she-male.
After they get back to Burbank, General Beckman congratulates them and says they need to discuss Chuck’s position in the agency without the Intersect, as he is still an asset.
In the last scene Ellie unlocks the computer that her father left her, but it fades to black, leaving a cliffhanger.
Coolest Action Sequences/Chuck Accidentally Saves the Day:
A Thai man who runs a fighting ring says he will tell Sarah where the Belgian is since he doesn’t like him, if she can beat his best fighter. They have a cool fight sequence, but then the fighter throws dirt in Sarah’s eyes. Before he can stab her, though, Casey and Morgan show up and Casey shoots the knife out of the man’s hand. Sarah then goes back into the ring to finish the deal. And Sarah knocks. Him. Out.
While Sarah is fighting, Chuck escapes into the jungle. Ellie calls and when he tells her his problem, Ellie asks him if he can flash. Chuck realizes it’s a dream, too. Then the doctor shows up and tells Chuck what he will do to him if he doesn’t flash.
Sarah smells Chuck’s Buy More shirt and she finds a piece of paper folded up in the front pocket. Morgan walks in and she asks him what it is. It turns out to be Chuck proposal plan. Morgan tells Sarah that the proposal plan got put on hold ever since Chuck lost the Intersect and Sarah is worried that she made him feel she wouldn’t love him without the Intersect. Morgan assures her that’s not the case and that Chuck knows that, too, because she has told him, and the look on Sarah’s face, as she realizes she hasn’t…I’m crying now…
Sarah tells Casey she isn’t leaving Thailand without Chuck. As usual, Casey says he isn’t, either.
When they find Chuck, Sarah’s voice infiltrates Chuck’s dream and she’s able to get through to him before he disappears.
Funniest/Most Awkward Moments:
Sarah goes into a bar and Thailand and asks about the Belgian. A guy says he can help but tells her to sit and relax first. He hits on her and it doesn’t go well.
Morgan sees a King Cobra in the fighting ring and freaks out. Sarah and Casey don’t even react.
Four star episode. This is basically a perfect Chuck episode. It’s one of my all time favorites.
Why don’t you take the new Sienna? Awesome would be happy to tell you about all of its features.
“God knows he is a neurotic man.” – The Belgian
“Hi, welcome to American soil. Now, where’s Chuck?” – Sarah
“He’s not talking. And he’s a smirker.” – Sarah
“Normally I wouldn’t threaten the subject with death by ammonia injection. Burning somebody from the inside out? Doesn’t sound like something that’s in the Geneva Convention, does it?” – Sarah
“Anyone else wanna be my boyfriend?” – Sarah
“The people have been talking much about the giant blonde she-male.” – Thai man
“Walker, what are you doing here, all alone? There’s nothing but scoundrels, assassins, and warlords. The scum of the earth.” – Casey
“Ah, Mr. Casey! Your usual?” – Thai waitress
“Seriously? Does no one care there is a cobra in there?” – Morgan
“Looks like we didn’t need the guns after all. What’s up with the she-male thing?” – Casey
“Even though the Belgian and Chuck were both found in Thailand, you’re certain you had nothing to do with the kidnapped Thai official who woke up in his own bed this morning with no recollection of where he went for two days.” – General Beckman
