Zachary Levi, best known for his role as Chuck Bartowski on the NBC series Chuck, and soon to be seen in upcoming Heroes reboot, Heroes Reborn, has signed a first-look deal with Universal TV, the studio behind Heroes, according to Deadline.
With the deal, Levi will develop Tuned, a half-hour musical comedy he had set up with NBC and Universal TV earlier in the TV development season. The project, which Levi will potentially star in, was written by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont. Levi will executive produce the series with Eva Longoria.
Levi has previously sang in the Disney film Tangled as well as the Broadway musical First Date.
In addition to co-executive producing the series with Longoria, Levi will guest star on Longoria’s new NBC series with Universal TV, Telenovela. He will also option and develop new projects for the studio.
“Zachary Levi is an extraordinary entertainer on every level, with great taste and smart instincts,” Bela Bavaria, the Executive Vice President of Universal TV, said. “We are fortunate to be working with him on our drama Heroes Reborn and can’t wait to see what exciting projects come from our new deal with him.”
Levi most recently starred as Fandral in the Marvel film Thor: The Dark World.
