Chuck – Season 4 – Episode 7
Chuck Versus the First Fight
The episode picks up shortly after the end of the previous one. General Beckman is telling Sarah and Casey the next step, which is to transport Frost to a secure facility.
Important Moments/Plot Summary:
General Beckman asks how Chuck is doing, and Sarah hesitates in answering, but Casey interrupts and says Chuck is calm. We immediately cut to Chuck yelling, though it turns out that he’s practicing to yell at Sarah by yelling at Morgan.
After talking to Ellie, Chuck sneaks into the facility to talk to his mom. He wants to prove that she’s innocent. She tells him that she really did betray the CIA to protect her real identity. She then began working with MI-6. Chuck wants to call someone and confirm, but Mary says that if he does that, Volkoff might find out. Instead, she tells Chuck to meet her handler, Gregory Tuttle.
Tuttle shows up and threatens Chuck with a plastic fork to his throat. After Chuck gives him the code, they talk and Chuck tells Tuttle that Frost has been taken. Then they are both shot in the neck with tranquilizer darts.
Chuck wakes up on a plane of Volkoff’s operatives.
Morgan tells Sarah and Casey what happened and Casey goes to interrogate Frost. She refuses to talk, but then Morgan comes in and gets her to agree to talk if she gets to see Ellie first.
Sarah takes Mary to see Ellie and it’s the most awkward reunion ever. Ellie clearly has no idea what to say. You sort of want to punch Mary on Ellie’s behalf.
Sarah catches up with Chuck and Volkoff in a bank.
Sarah is mad that Chuck has talked to everyone about their fight except for her.
Chuck and Sarah bring Frost to Stephen’s underground computer storage room. Chuck puts the computer disk into the computer.
Meanwhile, Casey and Morgan have arrived at the bank to get Tuttle, and when he’s pointed out, Casey looks and there’s no one there.
Coolest Action Sequences/Chuck Accidentally Saves the Day:
Chuck and Tuttle escape their seats and Dasha comes at him with the tweezers and he grabs the tiny dentist mirror. Then Dasha switches to a giant knife. A fight breaks out on the plane between Chuck and Volkoff’s men. Tuttle just looks on, shocked. Then he goes to throw a knife at Chuck and ends up stabbing one of the guards in the back when he throws it.
Tuttle finds parachutes and they jump out of the plane and wake up in a truck carrying sheep.
Before Sarah can take Frost back and follow General Beckman’s orders, Volkoff’s men break into the bank. Sarah and Chuck fight them all while simultaneously discussing their relationship issues. Their fighting is in sync in a way their relationship isn’t.
After they think they got everybody, Dasha gets up and is about to shoot Chuck, but Tuttle runs in front of him and takes the bullet instead. Sarah then decides to trust Chuck’s trust in Frost, even if it’s against her better judgment. Oops!
The disk is empty. At this point, Sarah realizes it was a mistake to trust Frost and pulls her gun. Chuck goes to look for her and Frost holds up a device that has some sort of Intersect like effect on Chuck. Sarah comes up behind them and wants to know what Frost did to Chuck, but is knocked out before she can finish the question, by Tuttle, who we may now call Volkoff. Volkoff then knocks Chuck unconscious as well. Frost and Volkoff tie Chuck and Sarah to chairs and set a bomb. Before they leave, Frost gives Sarah a razor blade so they can escape.
Ellie is looking through the newspaper to see if there’s a message from her father. She finds the same ad for a ’68 Mustang every day. When her mother visits, she reminds her that they used to take Ellie for drives in the same car. Ellie then realizes that the ad is for a real car.
“Frost here is a master of deception, but she wasn’t able to fool your girlfriend, was she?” – Volkoff (That’s right, Volkoff, cause Sarah kicks ass!)
Funniest/Most Awkward Moments:
All of the scenes with Tuttle. I wish he stayed as Tuttle.
While they are riding in the sheep truck, Chuck starts to tell Tuttle all about his fight with Sarah.
As Chuck and Sarah escape, all of Stephen’s life’s work explodes.
Ellie finds the car with a letter from her Dad. As Ellie drives away, the camera pans to a computer under her seat.
We meet Alexei Volkoff, though it’s still not clear what exactly it is that he does.
No one is who they say they are in this episode, as Frost continues to flip back and forth and Volkoff creates the ultimate deception.
This episode was funny and had great character interaction, as well as forwarding the plot along, so I’m rating it four stars.
