Supernatural – Season 2 – Episode 19
Folsom Prison Blues
The episode opens in a prison. Apparently, part of the prison was closed off and it’s now being reopened. As the maintenance works are standing there, there is a weird breeze from nowhere.
The lights in the prison flicker and go out and one of the prisoners, Randall, starts freaking out, calling for the guards. The one on watch calls for someone to go down. A guard that is calling for lights out is walking through the cellblock when a cell door closes on his arm. He starts screaming, though nothing is visible.
Sam is freaking out that their plan is too crazy. Dean tells Sam that their escape plan is a sure thing, and he wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t. Which we know means that something is going to go wrong with the escape plan.
Mara Daniels tells Henriksen about the people from the crime scenes that say Sam and Dean saved their lives. Henriksen just dismisses them as crazy.
Sam is mopping the floor with Randall and asks him about the night the guard that died. Randall tells Sam he was in the old tower when Mark Moody was there. Randall says that Moody didn’t die from a heart attack, but from the guards ‘using his head for batting practice.’
Dean tells Sam about Moody showing up the night before and killing Lucas.
They ask Randall about the nurse. He tells them her name was Nurse Glockner. Supposedly she would kill prisoners by making it look like they had a heart attack.
The guards drag Sam and Dean into a room where one of the guards says he wants to deal with it himself. It turns out that one is Deacon. Mara gave him the paperwork regarding where the nurse was buried. The brothers crawl out through the vents and escape in Dean’s waiting car.
Henriksen asks her what Dean and her talked about and she ends up telling Henriksen.
A prisoner gives Sam a hard time after he bumps into him and Dean defends Sam, ending up in a fight. The prison guards show up and put Dean in solitary.
While Dean is in his cell in solitary, the lights start flashing. This time, there are eyes and the other prisoner, Lucas, starts screaming.
While Dean and Tiny are in solitary after the fight, Dean sees a ghost, but it isn’t Moody, it’s a woman. Dean gets the ghost off of him with the salt from his dinner, but then she attacks Tiny instead.
As Sam and Dean are digging up the grave, Deacon is in a bathroom in the prison when the lights flicker and the nurse shows up. Sam and Dean salt and burn the bones just in time.
“Extradition papers have already been filed from five separate states, Missouri and Wisconsin being the biggest concerns – the bank robbery and the murder raps.” – Mara Daniels
Sam’s idea to get Moody: get into a fight again. He makes wise cracks about another prisoner’s weight. While the guards are distracted, Sam sneaks into the kitchen and climbs down to the old cellblock. How did he know how to get there? Maybe he went Michael Scofield on the blueprints before they got arrested? Sam burns the mattress.
Dean is enjoying the chicken served in the prison cafeteria.
Impersonation of the Week:
The brothers get themselves arrested to get into the prison.
“Green Onions” by Booker T. and the M.G.’s plays when Sam and Dean arrive at the prison.
