Chuck Versus the Suitcase

This episode continues a lighter note, and has a hilarious supermodel subplot. It also addresses some of Sarah’s intimacy issues.

It opens with a street chase that ends with a woman shooting a man in the head.

Important Moments/Plot Summary:

Chuck tells Sarah that it’s completely normal that she hasn’t unpacked her suitcase yet, and in the very next scene, Chuck is asking Morgan about it, telling him it’s weird.

Chuck and Sarah get a mission to go to Milan and intercept smart bullets from a spy who is undercover as a fashion model.

Morgan tells General Beckman that the Buy More is working too well. The Buy More risks losing its cover because of how well it’s functioning.

Chuck and Sarah break into Sofia’s hotel room. Her very large walk-in closet is fully unpacked with clothes everywhere. Chuck says, “Huh.” Sarah asks why he said that and he says it must not be a spy thing, the not unpacking, as Sofia felt comfortable enough to unpack everything and it’s only a hotel room. They find the safe in the corner and while Sarah is breaking into it, Sofia returns to the hotel room. Chuck and Sarah hide behind the dresses. Sofia walks into the closet. The camera focuses on both of their reactions with close-ups on their eyes, as they widen in surprise as Sofia gets undressed and walks into the shower. Sarah goes to get the car and tells Chuck to stay and get the weapon microchips out of the safe.

Chuck and Sarah bring General Beckman the chips, but it turns out that they’re fake.

Awesome asks Chuck and Sarah about the Buy More situation. They assure him that Chuck is not a spy anymore.

Chuck and Sarah go back to Milan, where they wear ridiculous looking disguises. They get into the model’s closet and Chuck finds the dress, which Sarah then puts on. The guards that Chuck tranquilized wake up and start banging on the door.
Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck Bartowski, Sarah Walker
Upon returning to Burbank, Sarah assures General Beckman that her cover is still intact, despite a fight landing Sarah on the cover of a fashion magazine. General Beckman says they acted intelligently and the bad guy was apprehended.

General Beckman tells Morgan that his addition has improved the cover of the Buy More. Then she makes him store manager.

Coolest Action Sequences/Chuck Accidentally Saves the Day:

Chuck and Sarah get Stepanova’s purse from a man they thought stole it, but it turns out she knew they were coming and rigged it with an explosive. There’s a pressure sensor on it and if Chuck lets go, it will explode.
Karolina Kurkova, Chuck
Chuck flashes and is breaking into the safe when Sofia pulls a gun on him. Chuck turns around and she is standing there completely naked. Chuck asks Sofia to put on a towel and then Sarah comes in. Sofia grabs Chuck and puts the gun to his head. Sarah shoots the shower door, shattering the glass and allowing Chuck and Sarah time to escape after Chuck confirms that he got the weapon.

As Chuck and Sarah are running from the guards, who start shooting at them, Sarah goes through the door. Chuck closes it behind her so she can escape. Sarah freaks out that he’s going to get killed and is about to kick the door back open when Sofia pulls a gun on Sarah. Chuck is dodging bullets and then puts his hands up, as it’s five on one. He then flashes and takes out all of the guys except the hulk Sofia’s bodyguard.
Yvonne Strahovski, Sarah Walker, Chuck
In the best action sequence of the episode, after Sofia pulls the gun on Sarah, she fights back in the models dressing room, attacking Sofia with an eyeliner pencil. The end up in quite the fight, falling out onto the runway, where the fight continues in front of the fashion week audience, ending with Sarah alone on the runway. When Sarah wins, Chuck has a hilarious smile, and then starts applauding to make it seem like it was part of the theatrics of the fashion show.

Most Disturbing Moment:

The slow motion walk of the old Buy More employees returning to work, including Jeff, who is walking with his shirt open.

Best Moments:

The entire scene is Sofia’s closet is one of the best scenes of the episode, with both action and humor (and naked supermodels, for those of you who are into that sort of thing). (;

Morgan asks Casey why he hasn’t been talking to Alex. Casey has excuses and when Morgan tells him to try, he gets a grunt in reply. I think that he is actually taking Morgan’s advice.

Sarah starts unpacking. Chuck tells her not to because if she does it then, it will only be because of their conversation and not because she wanted to. Sarah acknowledges that she has a difficult time putting down roots and Chuck says he understands and she should unpack when she’s ready because one dress isn’t going to make a difference, leading to the realization that the microchip is in the one dress that Sofia didn’t unpack.

Casey takes Morgan’s advice and at the end of the episode, he calls Alex.

Sarah finally unpacks and when Chuck offers to help, he finds a picture of the two of them in her suitcase. She tells him she carries it with her at all times.

Funniest/Most Awkward Moments:
Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck Bartowski, Sarah Walker
Chuck and Sarah’s reactions to Awesome’s behavior regarding Ellie’s pregnancy, leading to Morgan telling everyone that Sarah hasn’t unpacked even though her and Chuck have lived together for eight months.

Sarah is jealous of Sofia throughout the episode. As a result, she seems irritated with Chuck for most of the episode.

Morgan says the Buy More is functioning too well. Just then, Awesome comes in and says the same thing. He suspects that it’s staffed entirely with spies, which it is).
Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck Bartowski, Sarah Walker
Chuck and Sarah are hanging upside down as part of their getting into Sofia’s hotel room. Once Sarah is on the ground, Chuck says, “Spiderman kiss?” and Sarah just pushes him away.

Chuck is looking at Sofia in the shower and asks Sarah is she can see anything. Sarah asks him if he’s serious, getting annoyed that Chuck is leering at the supermodel. Chuck points out that if they can’t see anything, that means she can’t see anything, either.

Sofia’s guard mistakes Sarah for Sofia and tells her that he loves her. He gives her an entire speech. Awkward!

Casey shoots Jeff and Lester with tranq darts. Jeff doesn’t go down easy.

Sofia’s bodyguard accuses Chuck of messing things up with Ms. Sofia. Chuck tells him that he didn’t stand a chance and that Sofia is cold. He then starts rummaging through his pockets looking for something. He pulls out Sarah’s bra, clearly not what he was looking for, and hands it to the bodyguard. He’s looking for the tranq gloves and when he finds them, they don’t work immediately and the two of them start slapping each other before they take effect and the bodyguard passes out.

The look on Sarah’s face when Chuck says that maybe Awesome’s right about them being next with marriage and a baby. (Also, Sarah has great eye make-up to go to bed!)

Karolina Kurkova as Sofia Stepanova.

  1. Christopher

    Nice job,

I love your write up…. Yes, this is one of those episodes that get lost in the shuffle with conventional watchers, but when it comes to storyline nothing beats the ending of this episode. As Sarah tells Chuck about what/who her home was. Especially coming from a woman who hates expressing herself
