Olivia Wilde has participated in many non-profit organizations and is known for her activism almost as much as for her film and television career. She also based her stage name on the write Oscar Wilde. what’s not to love about that?

Why She Is Awesome:

Olivia Wilde is the daughter of journalists and grew up listening to politics and hearing about issues. As an adult, she has worked with organizations to help with rebuilding in Haiti. She is also outspoken about many issues, writing articles in magazines such as Glamour. Wilde supports organizations including Artists for Peace and Justice, the Millennium Campus Network, water.org and Art of Elysium.

Artists for Peace and Justice is an organization that encourages peace and justice, addressing issues of poverty around the world.

Millenium Campus Network is a national non-profit network of student organizations working to reduce poverty and meet the goals set by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDP). They provide networking, funding, and campaign opportunities for existing student organizations.

Water.org is an organization that works to challenge the traditional approach to helping people in developing countries by drawing attention to the number one cause of health problems throughout the world, which is unsafe and inadequate water supplies. The organization works to raise money to help communities gain access to clean, safe drinking water.

Art of Elysium is an organization that encourages working actors, artists and musicians volunteer and dedicate their time to helping children battling serious medical conditions.

Olivia Wilde started on television, with her first big role as Alex Kelly on The O.C. She then played Thirteen on House, M.D. for five years. She has also starred in many films, including TRON: Legacy, The Change-Up, Cowboys & Aliens, Butter, Drinking Buddies and Rush. She is currently starring in the film Third Person and filming Meadowland in New York.
