This weekend, Tom Hiddleston made a surprise appearance at the Wheatland Music Festival in Michigan where he sang Hank Williams songs, including “Move It On Over,” presumably in preparation fir his upcoming role as Hank Williams in the musical biopic I Saw the Light, which begins filming in Louisiana next month.

A fan from Venezuela made a compilation of Tom at the festival, including some other performances.

One of the musicians that Hiddleston performed with, Jerry Roe (pictured), answered some questions about Hiddleston playing Hank Williams on his Twitter account.
“I’m an old country/punk nazi & was the one playing drums with him in that video,” Roe said. “You’ll be happy when the film’s out.”
Roe also answered a question regarding whether Hiddleston was ‘doing’ his Hank Williams performance at the festival
“Not there yet,” Roe said. “He’d just landed in Nashville straight off filming High Rise. We just had him sit in because he’s awesome.”
Tom has also spoken about his music training with the Daily Mail.
“[Rodney Crowell] came down to visit me over the Easter weekend in Toronto where I was filming Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak and we jammed for a day or so,” Hiddleston said. “It was so exciting. It was spine-tingling just to spend a day playing some of Hank’s greatest Hits like ‘Hey Good Lookin” and ‘Long Gone Lonesome Blues’ with such a gifted musician. He’s already expanded my vocal range and given me a few pointers about adapting my own tone to sound like Hank. Rodney has furnished me with his beautiful J45 Gibson to practice with and he’ll be on hand throughout the shoot.”
For any fans interested in familiarizing themselves with Hank Williams before the film comes out, there is a compilation album on amazon that is inexpensive.
