This week, I’m reposting the third Women Wednesday, as it featured Jennifer Lawrence. Considering the invasion of privacy that has occurred, I thought it appropriate to focus on the real reason she is famous, which has nothing to do with her personal photos, but with her talent and personality, as well as the work she does to help others, including through her own foundation, the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation.
Why She is Awesome:
Jennifer Lawrence does work with the following organizations:
DoSomething.org, which helps young people find ways to contribute to causes that are important to them.
Feeding America, an organization that helps alleviate hunger in America.
The Thirst Project, an organization that builds fresh water wells in areas suffering from the clean water crisis.
World Food Programme, a part of the United Nations that address world hunger.
Jennifer also organized a special screening of her film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to benefit Saint Mary’s Center, an organization dedicated to special disabilities in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Jennifer is also an official Ambassador for the Special Olympics.
Additionally, she has created her own organization, the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, which supports causes that are important to her.
Jennifer is also an Academy Award winner for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, in addition to two nominations, for her performances in Winter’s Bone and last year’s American Hustle, not to mention carrying the Hunger Games franchise, where she plays a character that young girls look up to.
Here are some clips from Silver Linings Playbook: (there is some bad language)
And, of course, she is hilarious, as demonstrated in this video compilation.
