Chuck – Season 1 – Episode 9 – Chuck Versus the Imported Hard Salami

Important Moments:

Sarah tells Lou that Chuck is a great guy and tells Lou not to hurt him.

Casey calls Sarah out for falling for Chuck, telling her she always falls for the guys she works with.

Casey and Sarah invade a cargo storage unit and find nothing inside.

Casey covers for Chuck, telling Lou that Chuck is an FDA agent.

Best Moments:

Morgan stares at his watch as 10 seconds go by, before he turns around and tells a waiting customer that he’s on a break.<!–more–>

Chuck and Sarah argue about the break up and when Chuck insists he wants a real relationship, Sarah tells him she will have to sell it, and makes a cry face that is hilarious, both in how fake we know it is, and because of Chuck’s expression in reaction to it.

General Beckman, Sarah and Casey have a conference call about Chuck and Sarah breaking up. Casey keeps pointing out that Sarah got dumped. Hilarious.

Lou invited Chuck inside after their first date, when she tells him she’s about to make him a very lucky man. By that, she means an amazing sandwich, though the moment is interrupted when Chuck flashes on a party invitation.

Casey gives Chuck a flower so he “can get laid.” There is such an expression of shock on Sarah’s face as he says it.

Chuck goes to the deli to apologize to Lou, and they have a sexually tinged and mildly aggressive moment involving making a sandwich, but Lou forgives him.

Chuck and Sarah end up locked in a trunk together, having a heated argument about jealousy. It’s obvious that they are each jealous of the other’s significant others, Bryce Larkin and Lou, and they have a spat with their faces about an inch away from each other.

Later, Chuck and Sarah are frantically trying to dismantle the storage unit and diffuse the bomb. They aren’t having success and Sarah tells Chuck to run. He refuses and they argue, each saying the other brings out the worst in them. The bomb is down to less than 10 seconds when…Sarah kisses Chuck and they frantically make out. Yet nothing explodes…see notable guest star, and the box later turns out to contain Bryce, who isn’t actually dead, but has been frozen.

Coolest Action Sequence/Chuck Accidentally Saves the Day:

Chuck goes with Casey and Sarah to observe a meet between Lou and Stavros, who sells her meats, which ends up with Lou walking off, mad at Chuck, and Sarah and Chuck locked in the back of Stavros’ trunk.

Chuck flashes while they are being held captive. The information from the flash causes an argument between the bad guys, allowing Sarah to get the upper hand. Chuck goes to diffuse the “bomb” that they believe is about to go off with only a few minutes to spare.

Notable Guest stars:

Rachel Bilson is back as Lou. Also, Matt Bomer is sort of back, as a cryogenically frozen shirtless guy. This never hurts.

Best Lines:

“We’re only on our second official date and already I’m lying to her.” – Chuck
“Relax, it’s dating in L.A. Everyone lies.” – Casey

“Just so we’re clear, sister, not interested.” – Casey, to Sarah

“If it’s any consolation, I never felt that any of our time together was work.” – Sarah

“He had me at pastrami.” – guy in deli

“Now shut up, you’re sucking up all the air.” – Sarah

“Oh, I see. So you’re going to shoot me to prevent me from being blown up. That’s a great plan!” – Chuck, after Sarah tells him to leave and pulls a gun on him

“Didn’t I kill him?” – Casey, upon seeing Bryce

Chuck – Season 1 – Episode 8 – Chuck Versus the Truth

Chuck Bartowski, Zachary Levi, Lou, Rachel Bilson

Season 1 – Episode 8 – Chuck Versus the Truth

Important Moments:

When Sarah sees Chuck helping Lou into her car, it’s a sad moment outside of any relationship desires from fans of the show, but just shows Sarah’s compassion for Chuck because she realizes how much their fake relationship and the intersect are keeping Chuck from his life.

When the three of them break into the bad guy’s apartment, Sarah tells him that her partner would rather shoot him in the face. Casey is surprised she called him her partner. She just nods to affirm. A very simple moment, but demonstrative of the partnership Sarah and Casey have come to develop and will continue to develop throughout the show.

Chuck asks Sarah if their relationship will ever be real and she says no. We later find out she was lying and has training for how to deal with Pentothal. <!–more–>

Best Moments:

Chuck and Sarah are on a double date with Ellie and Awesome, when Awesome tells Chuck he didn’t realize how old-fashioned Chuck was. Chuck thinks Awesome is talking about the fact that he just ordered Sarah’s sushi for her, but no, he means sex. And Ellie is sitting right next to him. Awkward. Yet hilarious.

Awesome thinks Sarah is staying the night and gives Chuck the most hilarious pep talk about “riding a bicycle.”

Chuck and Sarah have a super awkward moment outside the Weinerlicious, talking about having pretend sex to maintain their cover. The entire conversation consists of accidental double entendres.

Chuck’s dance moves. That is all.

When they realize that Ellie was poisoned and Casey and Sarah are trying to convince Chuck there’s good news, he gets so angry that it becomes a great scene that shows how close they are as siblings and how much they are each other’s family, and how much their family, small though it may be, means to them both.

When the bad guy is trying to get away after Chuck calls him out about the fake anecdote, he does some crazy gymnastic moves, and then Sarah just looks at him and shoots him in the leg, Indiana Jones-style.

I don’t know if this constitutes an important moment as far as the entire series, but it’s worth noting that Chuck asks Sarah if they can fake break up in this episode. And Sarah does look really sad about it.

Coolest Action Sequence/Chuck Accidentally Saves the Day:

Chuck bursts into the hospital to tell Casey and Sarah that he has the codes, inadvertently poisoning everyone when the poison vial is knocked onto the floor. The bad guy grabs the codes from Chuck’s hand and starts running. Casey grabs a crutch from a man with a broken leg and uses it as a spear to knock the bad guy down.

Notable Guest star:

Rachel Bilson plays Lou in this episode and in the following one. She’s a deli owner that fantasizes about sandwiches and has a crush on Chuck.

Hilarious Musical Sequence:

After Chuck finds the electronic gizmo (do I have to be 60 to use that word?), “Toxic” by Britney Spears is playing as the scene fades from Chuck with Sarah and Casey to the bad guy in his lab.

Best Lines:

“I own a deli in the mall and I often think about meats and cheeses.” – Lou

“You never forget how to ride, okay?” – Awesome, talking about sex

“Tiniest cop I’ve ever seen.” – Awesome

“Those pajamas make you look like Dennis the Menace’s father.” – Ellie

“I’ll pretend to agree to take it and then I’ll run like hell to my sister’s room and make her take it – why did I just say that out loud?” – Chuck
“It’s the poison. It makes you tell the truth.” – Sarah
“You do that, I’ll give chase, put a gun to your head, threaten to pull the trigger if you don’t take it.” – Casey
“Would you really shoot me?” – Chuck
“No.” – Casey

“If I had a blog, this would be a really big day for me. Do my laundry. Check. Save my sisters life. Check. Save my own life. Final entry.” – Chuck

“And the silver lining is that now I don’t have to work out my five year plan.” – Chuck

“Casey, your jaw was chiseled by Michelangelo himself.” – Chuck
“Thank you.” – Casey

“Very unsportsman-like. I like it.” – Casey, after Sarah shoots the bad guy in the leg

“The longer we go, the longer we keep trying to fool people into believing that we’re a real couple, the person I keep fooling the most, is me.” – Chuck
