This episode opens with a young girl inexplicably walking alone through what looks like an abandoned industrial area at night while listening to headphones. The headphones stop working and something shadowy is there. The wind picks up, blowing garbage everywhere and the girl freaks out and runs around the corner, as she apparently lives in the abandoned industrial part of town. Once she gets inside, all seems well, but then the shadow goes across the wall and seems to reach into her from behind and kill her. Continue reading
Season 1 Episode 14 Nightmare
This episode really begins to explore Sam’s premonitions and why he has them and what it all might mean.
The episode begins with a man pulling into his garage. His car then seems to take over, locking him in with the engine running and the garage door closed, causing him to die from carbon monoxide poisoning. Sam wakes up, and it was another prophetic dream. Sam wakes Dean up and they immediately head to try to stop it. Sam calls to run the license plate. Dean is sure it was just a nightmare and that the plate won’t check out. Sam gets the information for the plate, which belongs to Jim Miller in Saginaw, Michigan. When they arrive at the house, they are too late and the man is already dead. A neighbor tells Dean it was suicide.
When the brothers go the family’s house to find out more, Jim Miller’s wife tells them that their son, Max, was the one who found his father.
Season 1 Episode 9 Asylum
The ghosts of dead inmates at an insane asylum are one of the freakier things to encounter. Dolls, clowns and children may top them, but nonetheless, they are very high on the list, and I think that is a good place to begin.
This episode opens with a group of teenagers breaking into an abandoned asylum. A policeman is talking to his partner, telling him that the asylum is rumored to be haunted and that supposedly if you spend the night, the spirits will drive you insane. While they are investigating the asylum, one of the cop’s flashlight goes out. When he goes back out and meets up with his partner, he is acting very strange, something viewers recognize from previous episodes as him being possessed.
The possessed cop goes home, where he shoots his wife in the bed.
Season 1 Episode 9 Home
As the title of this episode implies, it takes the brothers home to Lawrence, Kansas, where they were born and grew up until the death of their mother. The episode begins with a mother tucking her daughter into bed. The daughter thinks there is something in her closet. Her mother checks, and the little girl says she doesn’t like the house. She also has her mother put a chair in front of the closet before she leaves the room.
The mother, Jenny, hears scratching noises and thinks there might be rats in the house. While she goes to investigate, the chair in the daughter’s room starts to move from the closet. The closet doors open and then flame appears and the little girl starts screaming. Then Sam wakes up and it turns out he was dreaming the entire thing.
Season 1 Episode 8 Bugs
This episode is pretty much disgusting if you don’t like bugs, which I don’t. It opens with construction in process on a new development. The ground starts shaking and one of the workers, Dustin, falls into it, almost like a sinkhole. He is surrounded by disgusting bugs that start crawling all over him, into his orifices and everything. By the time his co-worker finds him, the bugs are gone and he is dead, with blood all over his face.
The brothers show up at the Oklahoma Gas & Power plant to talk to Travis, who says he didn’t see anything. He does take them to the location of Dustin’s death, however.
Sam looks in the hole where Dustin dies and only finds 10 beetles.
Season 1 Episode 6 – Skin
The episode opens with a kidnapped girl taped up. The police come in and the kidnapper turns around and is revealed to be Dean. We then flash back to one week earlier.
Sam gets an email from the sister of a friend, who is letting Sam know that her brother, Zach, has been arrested for murder. His sister, Rebecca, says that he didn’t do it and was with her the entire time. Sam believes him and wants to go to St. Louis and help them. When they arrive, Sam asks Rebecca if they can see the crime scene and tells her that Dean is a cop.
Dean hears the neighbor’s dog barking and angry sounding. Rebecca tells him the dog used to be really sweet, but changed around the time of the murder.
The next scene shows Zach watching a couple, and then his eyes flash, showing he is either a demon or possessed. While examining the security footage, Sam notices the thing with the eyes on the “Zach” showing up on the camera footage. Sam wonders if it’s some kind of skin walker, which would explain how Zach was in two places at once since Rebecca said that Zach was with her at the time of the murder.
Back at the couple’s apartment, we see some kind of shape-shifter has attacked the woman and she thinks it’s her husband. The shifter then attacks the man when he gets home.
Sam and Dean see the cops drive by and go to the crime scene, where a bystander says that the guy tried to kill his wife. Dean finds out that the guy was driving home when the attack occurred, and that he saw “himself” and is really freaked out. The police think he’s crazy.
Season 1 Episode 5 – Bloody Mary
This episode opens with some girls playing “Bloody Mary” at a sleepover party. They don’t think it worked, but then a girl opens the bathroom door to find a ton of blood and starts screaming. Then it cuts to Sam, who is still having nightmares about Jess.
The blood the girl finds is from a body that has liquefied eyes. According to a morgue employee, he had intense cerebral bleeding.
The brothers go to talk to the dead man’s daughter, Donna. When they arrive at the house, the family is in the middle of holding the wake. They ask the family about symptoms, such as migraines, and then his youngest daughter says it’s her fault because she played Bloody Mary in the bathroom. Dean assures the daughter that it couldn’t have been Bloody Mary because her dad wasn’t the one to say it. Sam also gives their contact information to Charlie, a friend of Donna’s.
Supernatural – Season 1 – Episode 4 – Phantom Traveler
The episode opens with a man afraid of flying getting possessed by a demon and then opening the door on the plane mid-flight, causing the plane to crash. The show then cuts to Dean, asleep as Sam walks into their hotel room, where he admits that he still has nightmares about Jess and that’s why he’s up and walking around instead of sleeping.
Dean gets a call from an old friend named Jerry that Dean and their father helped previously with a poltergeist. He needs Sam and Dean to help him with the plane crash. His friend was the pilot on the plane that crashed, and he survived. Jerry thinks there is more to the crash than it appears. Continue reading
